Poker Calculator Announcement: Hold em Pirate … Hold’em Hawk Forbidden by Poker Stars

October 11th, 2012 at 12:21

Since the Party Poker failure a few years ago, Poker Stars has emerged as the indisputable head in absolute amounts of web-based poker players. They’ve the largest tournaments, the most active tables, the largest money games, and also the fastest filling sit down and go tournaments on the net. With that comes power – the strength to choose your partners, online marketers, and closer to our point; suitable computer software.

Long have I been promoting Hold em Hawk and Holdem Pirate (they are in fact the same) poker calculators as easy to use and visibly desirable poker calculators. Recently though, these products have pressed the boundaries of suitable use, a minimum of inside the view of Poker Stars, and hence have been banned from use on that internet site. This is sad news, as a good product, not unlike some of the appropriate software program allowed by Stars, is now practically grounded because the largest poker web site on the planet thinks it’s too directly similar to an Operative Poker Calculator.

An Operative Poker Calculator is similar to a secret adviser working for you, gathering and digging through player details that you are able to use on them down the road. The factor is, you do not have to be at the table for this to happen. The computer software (database) is working all the time for you. For the majority of poker web sites, that is over the line of fairness, just as in actual life also.

Except Hold em Pirate and Hold em Hawk are really Empirical Poker Calculators, just the same as Holdem Indicator is. These kinds of poker calculators only acquire information on your opponents when you are at the table, just like you were betting in an actual situation.

So why the Poker Stars Smack? Here’s a genuine alert I got from Poker Stars while running Holdem Pirate:

Following an overview of your account, we come across that you’re running an external program recognizedas Poker Sherlock, or its associated applications, Poker Edge, PokerBotPro, Hold em Hawk and Holdem Pirate……PokerStars shall be entitled to take such action as it sees fit, including instantly blocking access to the Games to such User, closing such User’s account with PokerStars and appropriating all funds held in the relevant Poker Stars "actual cash account".

Hey, did you notice the "confiscating all monies" line? That is what you’ll be able to do when you are this big!

The "related applications" is the origin of the problem. The company that designed Hawk and Pirate also produce Poker Edge and PokerBotPro, which are data miners. In fact, I believe that Stars suspects Hawk and Pirate actually gather data for these similar programs, while looking like an Empirical Poker Calculator on the surface.

So therein lays the heart of the problem. In case you happen to play on Stars and have Hawk or Pirate, you’re out of luck, as I have attempted to change this judgment. I got a courteous reply from the staff members at Poker Stars, except genuinely, it’s not likely to alter. The excellent news though is that Holdem Indicator has been added to Poker Stars acceptable software program checklist, and it’s the only empirical calculator to be authorized by them.
