No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five in which he liked playing various card games at a young age. He found himself becoming really aggressive in these particular card games as he was competing against his father. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to put higher education on hold for a bit and moved away to New York to participate in some formidable chess. While competing in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s 1st 2 years were tough as he would play countless hours and don’t win a majority of the time. He earned some extra cash by being an runner for the poker players. He theorized he could boost his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He brought about an attempt to get more rest and concentrate even more on the game.

The real improvement in his game happened when he started wagering at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest players would frequently compete against one another. He had access into several of the greatest minds in chess. With their assistance, he would tweak his logical thinking skills. He applied these strategy ideas to the game of NL holdem.

He also helped his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie was a superb student of poker as she would always be asking questions about the right way to make the correct decision. Howard told Annie Duke to move out to Las Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the best female players the poker world today. Howard Lederer headed to Sin City in 1993 and played cash games for the following decade. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
