Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve final poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While competing in net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full dollar value. I think tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money games?
