I’ve been playing poker now for about five years, I have played cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various types of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so gracefully called, card on head game. I used to usually win, whatever game we were wagering and even though I liked to call it skill, it was very hard to warrant considering the randomness of the games we were wagering, so I was happy to accept I was having a long run of good fortune.

Then came Poker, or a lot more importantly Texas holdem Poker, made famous by a group of Texas card players in the sixties and since grown into one of the largest card phenomena ever witnessed. Poker is totally the new black, it is ultra awesome with several of the world’s leading celebrities racing to have their name connected with it. Just a quick scan via the TV channels nowadays and it is possible to not escape from poker, and needless to say there is the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all combined into one for each individual player.

So with all of this fresh discovered recognition, with so several Television shows dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves filled up with high quality material written by the top minds on poker, when are men and women going to learn that this casino game is all about position!?

Perhaps I ought to not get so worked up about this, after all the far more people who struggle with the subtle techniques and approaches needed for succeeding consistently at Texas hold em, the much better it’s for everyone else, right? I mean, if they can not be troubled to read all of the accessible facts about why placement is so crucial, why ought to we bother? We really should just be glad there is one more fish at the table!

It is true, we really should not reward inactivity with guidance and guide. Even so, I liken this to a friendly game of football. Granted the levels are not so superior, but when you observe a gambler having difficulties, you assist them, offer them some advice, ultimately showing them a way to like, love and be thankful for the game as much as you. I am asking all house gamblers to do a similar thing with their poker buddies who have not quite grasped the nuances of betting position. Guide them to grow their respect for the game. Obviously, do not attempt to try this one in your nearby gambling den, the sharks will not take pleasure in you instructing their supper how to swim!
